This is an excerpt from an old Northern Samogitian folk song – in this video you can hear Pranas singing the 1st verse of a folk song imitating thrush’s dialogue with the personified sun. These kind of plots featuring anthropomorphic animals (most frequently birds) and sun worshipping are considered to be the most archaic layer of Samogitian folklore by ethnologists. In 1999 singer Aistė Smilgevičiūtė performed a modern interpretation of this song in Eurovision song contest.
