Majulah Singapura is the national anthem of Singapore. This song was composed by Zubir Said in 1958 as a song for the Singapore City Council. This song was chosen as Singapore’s national anthem in 1959 when self-government began. After full independence in 1965, „Onward Singapore” officially became Singapore’s national anthem. By law, this song may only be sung in the Malay lyrics.
